Red Flags

A Baltimore Performance Kitchen Commission (2012)

Created and performed by LOVE the poet (aka Michelle Nelson), Bashi Rose, and Vincent E. Thomas, “Red Flags” explores signals of awareness that warn and awaken the human soul and mind. Political, personal, and spiritual themes are examined with a mixture of movement, poetry, film, music, and theater. Audience members will have an opportunity to interact with the artists and one another for a vibrant and creative exchange on the themes explored in “Red Flags.”

A note from Baltimore Performance Kitchen Artistic Director, Buck Jabaily:

This piece is a commission of three outstanding artists. A spoken word artist, a film and theatre maker, and a dancer/choreographer. Each brings tremendous skill in their discipline, and each was fearless in approaching this first-time collaboration. Due to the cross-disciplinary nature of the creators, don’t expect to see a traditional play, spoken word event, or dance show. What you will see is something different–a blend of the art forms. Each of these artists are very aware of the world around them, which is something that drew me to them in the first place. This work of performance is made for today’s world, but we hope aspects of it will stick with you for a long time to come.
